What are roller shutters? Roller shutters are modern approach to traditional curtains to protect the windows from vandalism and bird’s waste. It also helps control the amount of light and heat coming into the room or house area.

Battery Operated Roller Shutters

The latest among the roller shutter technology is the Battery-Operated Roller Shutters. The benefits of this kind of roller shutter are not that far from manually-operated and electric roller shutter except that it is a great alternative for you because it automatically generates electricity in case of power failure.

This gives you the assurance of a secured and protected property even when you are away. It comes smart with its portable controller and can be easily used with a touch of a button; it also comes with rechargeable batteries and low voltage wire that is directly connected at the back of the device through a fixed switch for automatic power generation.

E-Port LED Signals

eseries_logoThe E-Port control is the cornerstone to this Rechargeable Drive System and the information below is an aid to diagnosing the various signals that the two LEDs on the 18650 E-Port can display. If the up or down button is pressed with the controller in a wallplate connected to a motor the TOP LED should light up for a few seconds to indicate that motor drive is occurring. If the up or down button is pressed with the controller out of a wallplate the TOP LED should flash to indicate the controller is trying to drive but there is no load.

When a charger is plugged directly into the bottom of the controller the CHARGE LED will always illuminate (even if for a few seconds) to show that power is available to the controller when required. The charging condition can be tested using the information detailed at point below.

Is the controller responding to UP or DOWN button presses?

The Controller may be in sleep mode. To “wake” it up plug a charger directly into the charging jack on the bottom of the controller. Ensure that the charger is plugged in and switched on. The CHARGE LED should light up to indicate charging is occurring.

Does the CHARGE LED flash when a button is pressed?

This indicates that the controller needs Charging. A full charge will require approximately 8 hours.

Does the TOP LED flash when a button is pressed?

This indicates that the controller is trying to drive a motor. Fit the controller to a wallplate and try to drive a motor.

Are the TOP LED and CHARGE LED flashing at the same time?

This indicates that the controller is in ERROR MODE. The controller monitors the charging circuit and if it detects a problem will enter error mode. The controller cannot be used in this state and should be removed from any charging source. A service call will be required to investigate the controller. The problem in the charging circuit is most probably a short circuit within the wallplate so this will need to be investigated. Obvious things to check for are wire whiskers on the motor loom, metal swarf, crushed wiring or metal touching the terminals of the wallplate.

Does the TOP LED stay on continuously?

This indicates that the controller is in TEST mode. To exit TEST mode press following buttons in sequence: UP, DOWN, STOP, STOP (note that STOP needs to be pressed twice). The TOP LED will go off, and the controller will be in SLEEP mode. To wake the controller, follow the steps from 1) above. It is easy to recover from TEST mode; however this fault should be reported to OZRoll.

Checking the Charging Condition of a Controller

The charging condition of the Controller can be checked at any time that some form of charging is occurring. This is done by pressing all three buttons (ie Up, Stop and Down) all at the same time, for 3 seconds. If the battery is full and does not need charging the CHARGE LED will display one 3 second flash.

If the Controller is connected to an AC Adaptor (ie a charger) and charging is occurring the CHARGE LED should flash 7 times when the all 3 buttons are pressed at the same time.

T Series

Each T-Series 12 volt tubular motor has has been specifically designed to work in conjunction with Ozroll’s low voltage DC controllers. Internationally renowned for a smooth, quiet and reliable operation, each T-Series motor is provided with a tool to set the up and down limits using progressive twist limit settings.


The ODS L10 motor is a 12V lateral motor which has been specifically designed to work in conjunction with Ozroll’s low voltage DC controllers.

This motor can fit in end plates 165mm and above, making it available for use in shutters when the width is too small for a tubular motor, such as bathroom windows or bay windows. An internal gear works as a down stop for the motor which is set in our factory during assembly. Resistance causes the motor to stop on the way up which is achieved by using stops in the shutter guide. This means there is no limit settings required during installation.

The original design battery pack for the Ozroll Drive System was the ODS control 10. Since the implementation of the newer and far superior E-Port control we began to phase out the control 10, stopping production in 2011 and eventually running out of stock in 2013.

The E-Port is easily interchangeable with existing systems, however the wall plate for the Control 10 and E-Port Controls are totally different and do not have the same mounting foot print. To help make the transition period as smooth as possible we have designed and introduced the Conversion Wall Plate (part #15.551.002).

To achieve a fluent and clean conversion, the control 10 wall plate must be removed. The conversion plate is fixed to the wall using the existing mounting holes and the E-Port wall plate is then attached to the Conversion Wall Plate. Once paired together they emerge as one unit, the E-Port slots in and the upgrade is complete.

E-Solar Home

The E-Solar Home system is designed to be used in conjunction with Ozroll’s E-Port controller, allowing for the same simple installation you are familiar with. The solar panel comes with 2.5m of cable which is run through to the E-Port control on the inside of the application and the Solar Panel can be fixed to the exterior with the use of Ozrolls ‘click & go’ clips. The Solaris Home offers the added benefit of being able to charge the E-Port with an AC Adaptor, making this a hybrid Solar Roller Shutter.

E-Solar Basic

E-Solar Basic is the original in solar power drive technology. Offering a practical mounting bracket with 5m of cable, this is an extremely cost effective Solar Roller Shutter which works by running the wire from the solar panel mounting point to the E-Port control on the inside of the application. Similar to the Solaris Home, the Solaris Basic also gives the option of charging the E-Port with an AC Adaptor.

E-Solar Pro

The E-Solar Pro is the ultimate in Solar Roller Shutter technology; consisting of a sleek module which collects energy from the sun by accepting charge through a solar panel while storing the energy in batteries which are located in the command centre at opposite end of the module. Operational using an Ozroll E-Trans Remote, the Solaris offers a standalone motorised system without a need for mains power. The E-Solar Pro does not require any drilling on the inside of the application. Installation is as simple as fixing the shutter to the exterior of the application, then fixing the Solaris module with Ozroll’s own ‘click & go’ clips which make not only the installation easy but also any servicing.


The E-Series RF remotes are available in two options, the E-Trans 1 channel (15.560.001) and the E-Trans 9 channel (15.561.001). With a huge range of programming choices, you can control one Remote Roller Shutter on a single control or you are able to program a number of Roller Shutters on one single channel to operate simultaneously or operate a whole house load of shutters separately on different channels.

Choose the channel on your remote that you wish to have registered with a particular E-Port.

With the E-Trans in one hand, hold down the middle ‘STOP’ button on both the E-Port control and the E-Trans remote.

Hold for 5 seconds or until you see the E-Ports LED light flash three times and that control is now set.


The E-3Way switch allows three Ozroll Drive Systems to be operated separately by only one E-Port, for such instances as a Box or Bay Window Roller Shutter. Acting as a circuit breaker, the E-3Way receives the power delivered from the controller and relays it to one of three shutters selected at the time by the operator. This makes it a convenient and cost effective option for operating multiple shutters within a close proximity, such as bay or box windows. Generally for the most user friendly operation, designate shutters 1-3 from left to right.

For example:
1 = left window
2 = middle window
3 = right window

When you press the number related to the desired shutter an LED will light to indicate the selection has been made and you can then use the E-Port to operate that shutter. This selection will remain valid for 60 seconds, at which point the E-3Way will revert back to the default shutter. The default shutter can be selected by pressing and holding the preferred number for 5 seconds until the correlating LED flashes.
